"It is clear that teaching has been taking second place to research in this process up to now. Research centre heads (eg Head of the Randall, MRC Dev Biol, etc) have been kept up to date but NOT heads of departments (Physiology, Anatomy, etc).  At the meeting to decide which of the 140 at-risk staff to go, teaching within Biomedical and Health Science will only be represented by the Dean (Ian McFadzean), not by the individual HoDs at all.

HoDs WERE consulted initially and while they didn't identify individuals, they did indicate which courses or even degree programmes would seriously suffer of even be unsustainable if the College's plans went ahead.  These have apparently been ignored without exception."

"Universities are educational institutions with the purpose of education and are not intended to put their financial agenda above the student interest. I hope, together, the student and staff who are the building blocks of this historic institution can bring back our rights to an educational institution that prides itself of its exception quality of teaching."
